Performance

Currently the Dharma Players are performing short segments from the play "The Tibetan Book of the Dead, or How Not To Do It Again" by Jean-Claude van Itallie, each month on the first Friday at the Rubin Museum of Art, through June.

The Tibetan Book of the Dead for Reading Aloud is famed playwright Jean Claude van Itallie's poetic adaptation of the traditional Tibetan Book of the Dead, including passages used to aid and comfort at the time of death.

Each week, members of the Dharma Players will perform various aspects of the Tibetan Book of the Dead for Reading Aloud. Each fifteen minute vignette will illumite the traditional text in provocative ways, offering visitors a theatrical introduction to the works of art exhibited in Bardo: The Tibetan Art of Death.
Following each performance, visitors can further explore the Bardo exhibition with museum guides.

"The Moment of Dying" -- Friday, March 5th
"The Peaceful Energies" -- Friday, April 2nd
"Wrathful Energies" -- Friday, May 7th
"Rebirth" -- Friday, June 4th
